Recently, I was reminded while reading popular Christian author John Eldrege's "Wild at Heart," that my primary enemy is my self. This concept is mentioned multiple times in the New Testament; "dying to self, being crucified with Christ." Eldredge says that our only true sin is when we submit to our own selfish desires, instead of trying to ascertain what God wants from us. Eldredge explains the biblical idea of self in a manner that reminded me of Aristole's idea of man as the rational animal, capable of comprehension of God. The bottom line is that God wants us to choose him, however he created each of us as our own autonomous being, a "self". Daily, it is our choice what guides each one of us: our own "self" or the Holy Spirit.

If God is with you there is nothing to fear.
